If you have ever been in a finished basement that is underground, you are probably aware of how difficult it is to get good lighting in there. Artificial light can usually only do so much, but it doesn’t measure up to natural light. One solution to this problem is to have window wells installed. While this isn’t a simple thing to do, if you really want to improve the lighting in your basement, it is the best option.

The first step in the process is to make sure that window wells can be safely installed in your home. Since you need to dig down and cut into the foundation, it could be a structural issue, so it is not something that you want an inexperienced builder to do for you. If there are any concerns, you might want to reconsider the project.

Having a window well can allow you to have full-size windows below the surface of the ground, and it can even be a good safety feature for your home since they can be used as an emergency exit in case of fire.
